The first absolute confirmation of MGS3 and Snake goes Rambo in the jungle. |

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is finally confirmed as we've just finished watching a movie of the game that's knocking around the web. The movie itself is of poor quality but after some deliberation we thought you'd rather see it than wait until a high quality one comes along. So start downloading now and read on while you wait with baited breath...
The trailer kicks off with Snake in the jungle fitted out in his usual gear - but this time it has a heavy camouflage motif - literally tucking into a python.
No sooner has flesh been swallowed and things really start kicking off, with the classic MGS theme belting out in the background. We should say here that while the picture quality is poor, the sound is awesome, from the score to the sound of rushing water.
Speaking of which, the next scene cuts to a huge waterfall with the sounds of choppers 'acking' above the jungle canopy, and gunfire raining down on Snake. Using infra-red vision (Predator style), Snake pops a cap in a soldier, who falls down the waterfall.
We particularly like the section that has Snake running like hell down a stream, trying to evade a pack of Dobermans. Even with poor quality it looks great and it culminates and in yell from Snake as he dives in slo-mo off the top of a waterfall, Tarzan style. It is somewhat reminiscent of his dive in the MGS2 movie when he goes in after Metal Gear Ray - but it's far, far better.
By this point, Snake has lost his upper garments and basically looks just like Rambo. The movie culminates in a night-time scene with Snake wading waist-deep in a river as explosions and flares go off around him under a full moon.
He's letting rip with an automatic - muscles rippling, empty shells flying, face grimacing - as the score hits a new crescendo and flames rage all around him. It's bloody fantastic!
What do we learn about the game? Well, Snake has gone Rambo with this jungle setting (this may be only part of the game for all we know, though) and there's a heavy presence of water features. But all the bits and pieces of MGS2 that you like and love are left well in place, which includes the third to first-person switch when shooting.
As we've mentioned a couple of times, the movie quality is poor, so it's impossible to come to any concrete conclusions about the graphics. However, we'd venture to say that it appears that MGS3 has a slightly more realistic look than MGS2, in that the graphics in general aren't so sharply cut, giving MGS3 slightly softer and rounder edges.
We have to say, as this movie hasn't been directly confirmed by Konami (it's presence on the web isn't of their doing, as far as we can tell), that there is the minute possibility that it's a fake. Personally, we can't believe it is and would be stunned if it turned out to be so. Besides the obvious, the Snake Eater title fits well with teaser Konami released last week.
Come Wednesday, when E3 kicks off, we should know the game format for MGS3 and all the juicy details. Above all, we should have a high quality version of the movie for your pleasure... we can hardly wait ourselves!
Oh, and just to get you even more excited, we doubt this is the full version of the E3 trailer for MGS3, seeing as MGS2 was around the ten minute mark. Whatever you do, don't miss the official showing of MGS3, so check back regularly.
E3 hasn't announced any release dates for MGS3 but it should be released by the Spring Next Year for Japan, and then Probably Autumn 2004 or Spring 2005 for US, Then for the UK it should be Summer 2005 at the latest. Anyway Hope you enjoy the Movie which is available for Download in the Download section and below and don't forget Z.O.E:2nd Runner will be available in the UK on the 30th May 2003, There is also a Japanese Trailer of Z.O.E:2nd Runner which is availble for download the download section as well as the Z.O.E:2nd Runner section.
